What happens during a discovery flight?

  • You meet a certified flight instructor (CFI) who explains the basics
  • Go over safety and what the aircraft controls do
  • Take off with the instructor (they handle the critical parts)
  • Once in the air, you’ll usually get to actually fly the plane yourself, and you can fly over and see anything you’d like in the Mid-Michigan area.
  • The instructor handles landing

How long is it?

  • Typically 1 hour of flight time

What kind of plane?

  • We’ll fly in a small training aircraft called a Cessna 172

How much does it cost?

  • Generally $190 USD per hour, prorated for a shorter flight.

Do you need experience?

  • None at all — it’s designed for complete beginners
